WHAT TO DO IN QUEBEC CITY IN OCTOBER 2026?
In October, Quebec City settles fully into fall. Colourful leaves frame the streets of Old Québec and the landscapes surrounding the city, while street arts, literature, circus and local dining shape the month’s cultural calendar.
Several of the month’s events can be reached on foot from Monsieur Jean. For a day surrounded by fall colours, Mont-Sainte-Anne is also within an easy drive of the hotel.

October offers a natural balance of walks through Old Québec, fall landscapes and cultural events. Here are three experiences selected according to the time you have and the pace you prefer.
EXPLORE OLD QUÉBEC IN FALL COLOURS
Just 2 to 10 minutes on foot from Monsieur Jean, the streets of Old Québec offer an immediate introduction to the season.
Place de l’Hôtel-de-Ville, the fortifications, Dufferin Terrace and the streets leading toward Porte Saint-Louis can be combined into a walk lasting one or two hours. To continue farther, the Plains of Abraham are approximately 12 minutes from the hotel on foot.
In October, lower light, stone façades and changing leaves gradually transform the historic district. The intensity of the colours naturally varies according to the date and weather conditions.

SEE THE FALL COLOURS FROM MONT-SAINTE-ANNE
Approximately 45 minutes by car from Monsieur Jean, Mont-Sainte-Anne offers one of the Quebec City region’s most expansive fall panoramas.
The Great Fall Colours Tour continues through October 11, 2026. Hiking, mountain biking and seasonal activities offer different ways to experience the mountain as the forest turns shades of red, gold and ochre.
Trail access, available activities and the time required for the visit may vary according to the weather and the day’s program. Conditions should therefore be checked before departure.

EXPERIENCE RÉVERBÈRE IN THE STREETS OF QUEBEC CITY
From October 9 to 12, 2026, Réverbère turns streets, parks and public squares into open-air stages.
Circus, theatre, music and roaming performances shape a free program presented during the afternoon and early evening. Several performances take place in Old Québec, within walking distance of Monsieur Jean; the exact distance depends on the selected venue.
The event takes place in most weather conditions, although individual performances may be delayed when conditions affect public or performer safety.

ON THE CALENDAR IN OCTOBER 2026
October brings together several cultural and culinary events in Old Québec and the surrounding neighbourhoods. Some can be reached on foot from Monsieur Jean, while others require a short taxi or public-transit ride.
QUÉBEC EN TOUTES LETTRES
October 15 to 25, 2026
The 17th edition of Québec en toutes lettres brings literature to stages, cultural venues and public spaces. Readings, encounters, interdisciplinary performances and installations introduce audiences to voices from Quebec and beyond.
Activities take place at different downtown venues, several of which are approximately 8 to 15 minutes from Monsieur Jean on foot. Some activities are free, while others require advance reservations.

CIRQUE ÉLOIZE : iD-EVOLUTION
October 23 and 24, 2026
Cirque Éloize presents iD-EVOLUTION at Théâtre Capitole, approximately five minutes from Monsieur Jean on foot.
Acrobatics, breakdance, trial biking, trampowall and projections transform the city into a creative playground. Three performances are scheduled: October 23 at 8 p.m. and October 24 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.

SPOOKY MARKET
October 24 and 25, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Presented on the second floor of Grand Marché de Québec, the Marché de l’étrange brings together artists and artisans whose creations explore the unusual, the mysterious and the world of Halloween.
Jewellery, illustrations, plants, body products and themed objects are among the discoveries presented during its sixth edition. Grand Marché de Québec is approximately 15 minutes from Monsieur Jean by taxi.

QUÉBEC TABLE GOURMANDE
October 30 to November 15, 2026
Québec Table Gourmande brings together more than 80 restaurants from across the region, each offering menus created especially for the event.
Participating restaurants and menus will be revealed on October 15 at noon. No event ticket is required, but reservations directly with the selected restaurant are strongly recommended. Distance from Monsieur Jean will vary by restaurant; our team can prioritize addresses in Old Québec or nearby neighbourhoods.
COMING IN NOVEMBER 2026
November will extend the fall dining season before Old Québec begins its transition into the holiday season.
Through November 15, Québec Table Gourmande will feature special menus at more than 80 restaurants across the Quebec City region.
From November 19 to 22, the First Nations Book Fair will bring Indigenous authors, artists and audiences together in Quebec City through literature and cultural encounters.
From November 19 to December 23, the Quebec City German Christmas Market will install its wooden kiosks across five sites in Old Québec, only a few minutes from Monsieur Jean on foot.
