Our concierge team’s recommendations

Concierge de Monsieur Jean conseille des clients à Québec avec une tablette.

There are places you will find in every guidebook. And others you discover because someone took the time to listen.

At Monsieur Jean, our concierge team offers a personal perspective on Quebec City, shaped by the season, local habits and the discoveries of the moment. A table worth reserving. An exhibition to see. A few hours beside the river. Or an address where time seems to slow down.

Each recommendation is selected to fit naturally into your stay.

WHAT IS THERE TO DO IN QUEBEC CITY IN AUGUST 2026

In August, our concierge team recommends making the most of the river, venturing into the surrounding landscapes, and discovering the city at a more personal pace.

A cruise departing from the Old Port, a whale-watching excursion, or a few hours in the Jacques-Cartier Valley offer a different perspective on the region.

For the major festivals and events bringing Québec City to life this month, explore our selection of seven August events as well.

OUR CONCIERGE TEAM’S AUGUST FAVOURITES

In August, the river becomes a destination in its own right. Nature is easily accessible from Quebec City, and the long days make it possible to venture farther afield for a few hours before returning to the pleasures of Old Québec in the evening.

Here are three experiences selected according to the time you have and the pace you prefer.

DISCOVER QUÉBEC CITY FROM THE RIVER

From the Old Port, a guided cruise offers a chance to view the city from a little farther away.

The route follows the St. Lawrence River toward Montmorency Falls, opening onto views of the Château Frontenac, Île d’Orléans, and the shores of Québec City. For approximately an hour and a half, a guide shares the stories of the river, its history, and the landscapes that have shaped the city.

Departures at different times of day make it easy to include this outing in your stay. The 7 p.m. departure offers a softer light, while daytime departures make it easier to appreciate the details of the panorama.

Our concierge team can help you select the schedule and format that best suit your plans.

SET OUT IN SEARCH OF WHALES

In August, several whale species can be observed in areas of the St. Lawrence River located downstream from Québec City.

Excursions with transportation from the city make it possible to reach the Charlevoix region or the North Shore before continuing the experience by boat. You should allow a full day, although the journey itself is already part of the discovery.

This outing is well suited to those wishing to devote a day to nature and the landscapes of the river. Conditions may vary depending on the weather, so it is preferable to reserve and prepare for the excursion in advance.

Our team can present the different transportation options, types of vessels, and practical details to consider for the day.

FOLLOW THE RIVER THROUGH THE JACQUES-CARTIER VALLEY

Beyond the city, the roads gradually give way to the forest.

Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier is distinguished by its glacial valley, hiking trails, and river surrounded by high plateaus. In August, visitors can hike, rent watercraft, or take part in a variety of discovery activities.

Half a day is enough to enjoy the outdoors and follow an accessible trail. A full day leaves more time to explore the valley or travel gently down the river.

Our concierge team can guide you toward an activity suited to your level of experience, the members of your group, and the time available.
