WHAT IS THERE TO DO IN QUÉBEC CITY IN JULY 2026?
In July 2026, our concierge team recommends the Festival d’été de Québec until July 19, the Festival d’opéra de Québec from July 21 to August 2, and the Rendez-vous naval from July 23 to 26.
For an outing beyond the city centre, Île d’Orléans and Canyon Sainte-Anne offer another way to experience the landscapes, flavours and summer rhythm of the Quebec City region.

In July, Quebec City moves outdoors. Public squares come alive, terraces fill up and the river accompanies days that seem to last a little longer.
Here are three ways to discover the region this summer, depending on the time and pace you prefer.
A CULINARY ESCAPE TO ÎLE D’ORLÉANS
Cross the bridge, and the city begins to fade behind you.
On Île d’Orléans, the road follows the St. Lawrence River past ancestral homes, farmland, vineyards and local food stops. In July, berries, market produce and the first harvests give every visit a distinct seasonal flavour.
At Saint-Pierre Le Vignoble, you can stop for a tasting, learn more about the estate and take your time admiring the landscape. It is an easy addition to a half-day devoted to the flavours of the island.

STEP INTO NATURE AT CANYON SAINTE-ANNE
In Saint-Joachim, water has carved its way through the rock. It remains at the heart of the experience.
Canyon Sainte-Anne can be explored along approximately three kilometres of trails, viewpoints and suspension bridges. The 74-metre waterfall accompanies the route and brings welcome freshness on warm July days.
The visit works well as a half-day outing and can be combined with other discoveries along the Côte-de-Beaupré.

DISCOVER OLD QUÉBEC THROUGH ITS FLAVOURS

FESTIVAL D’ÉTÉ DE QUÉBEC
Until July 19, 2026
For eleven days, Québec City moves to the rhythm of stages set throughout the downtown area. International performers, local voices and new discoveries come together from the Plains of Abraham to Place D’Youville.
From Monsieur Jean, several festival venues are within walking distance. Some outdoor stages also present free performances, offering another way to experience the atmosphere without a general festival pass.

FESTIVAL D’OPÉRA DE QUÉBEC
July 21 to August 2, 2026
For nearly two weeks, opera sometimes leaves the theatre and finds its way into the city.
The Festival d’opéra de Québec brings together stage productions, artists from Québec and abroad, and a program of free outdoor activities. It offers both opera enthusiasts and curious newcomers an opportunity to discover the art form in a summer setting.
Among this year’s productions, Dialogues des Carmélites will be presented at the Grand Théâtre de Québec on July 28 and 30, and August 1.

RENDEZ-VOUS NAVAL DE QUÉBEC
July 23 to 26, 2026
For four days, the Port of Québec welcomes an unusual gathering of tall military ships and modern naval vessels.
The 2026 edition will include ships associated with the Canadian Coast Guard, the Royal Canadian Navy and the United States Navy. Visitors will be able to walk along the waterfront, see the vessels up close and rediscover the St. Lawrence River from the Old Port.
The area is easily reached on foot from Monsieur Jean.

FÊTE CHAMPÊTRE AT BOIS-DE-COULONGE
July 25, 2026
For one day, the Bois-de-Coulonge grounds take on the atmosphere of an English garden celebration.
Music, entertainment and period-inspired activities unfold throughout this expansive riverside estate. The Festival d’opéra de Québec’s Brigade lyrique will also present roaming performances.
A free and peaceful outing, with a touch of another time.
COMING IN AUGUST 2026
In August, history returns to the streets of Old Québec, music reaches the beach and summer evenings light up above the St. Lawrence River.
Here are three events worth planning for now.
LES GRANDS FEUX LOTO-QUÉBEC
August 4 to 22, 2026
As evening settles in, the river becomes the stage.
Eight pyromusical evenings are scheduled for August 4, 6, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20 and 22. On the Québec City side, Place des Canotiers welcomes visitors with entertainment beginning at 6 p.m., before the fireworks start at 10 p.m.
Several viewpoints in Old Québec can also be reached on foot from Monsieur Jean, including Dufferin Terrace, Parc Montmorency and the Pierre-Dugua-De Mons Terrace.
FÊTES DE LA NOUVELLE-FRANCE
August 6 to 9, 2026
For a few days, Old Québec reveals another layer of its story.
Historic settings, costumed characters, activities and performances bring aspects of New France to life throughout the streets and heritage sites of the district. In 2026, the main festival locations and the Notre-Dame de Québec Basilica-Cathedral will also host an immersive open-air exhibition.
Much of the experience unfolds within walking distance of Monsieur Jean.
CIGALE
August 7 to 9, 2026
At Baie de Beauport, music meets the beach and the river.
Cigale offers three days of performances in a relaxed summer atmosphere, with artists from Québec and abroad, food offerings and open views over the St. Lawrence River.
It is a more contemporary outing, best planned as a true half-day beside the water. Our concierge team can advise you on transportation and the ideal time to leave Old Québec.
